The VIRGINIA PLAN designates a number of representations based on POPULATION.

HOWEVER,

This meant that states with a SMALLER POPULATION would be RESTRICTED in their REPRESENTATION.

So another plan was proposed: The NEW JERSEY PLAN.

This plan stated that all states would have an equal number of votes, which gives us folk from Delaware power over the more populated states.

HOWEVER,

The larger states abhorred this idea.

THEREFORE the committee came to a COMPROMISE.

IT IS CALLED THE GREAT COMPROMISE.

In this, there will be two houses of legislature, one which has the elements of the Virginia plan, and the other with elements of the New Jersey plan.

HOWEVER,

The large states wanted slaves to count towards representation as well... A bad idea to me, but, int order to appease them... the 3/5ths compromise was introduced, which 3/5ths of the slave population are counted to the representation of the state... A load of bull, but if it gets the Constitution passed...
